shifting

As I mentioned in January that 2011 is a year of changes.  Indeed it is.

I left my job last Monday.  It is time to move on and restore balance in my life.  Although it may seem abrupt to you, it is something I've been contemplating for months.

The expression "where one door shuts, a window is opened elsewhere" also comes to mind: before the end of last week, I was offered an ongoing contract to create caselaw digests.  The contract is for less than part-time work but it is nice to have some steady income coming in while I sort out what I want to do; plus I already know I enjoy working for the Law Society Library.

Although I had imagined that I would have had eons of time, I've been running like crazy doing household related matters!  I would hardly notice that I'm not at work as I'm still not at home.  I have already volunteered yesterday to make pancakes for N's class ~ I haven't volunteered at the school since I started working 2/3 time (at least 30 hours per week) in September 2009!  It will be nice to take some time off and have the flexibility of working from home for a bit!

  1. WOW--big move, MJ! But no one likes to be stuck in a job/work where one is not thriving, or where life feels unbalanced. Brave you for making a change! And very seredipitous with the part-time work--wonderful news while you take some time for family and think what's next. Wishing you all the best for enjoying the days as they are now and finding your dream job. ;o) Happy Days ((HUGS))

  5. Wow! Glad you made the decision and made the change. I always think change is good. Hope you find what you would like to do soon...but not before you can get other things done! (Like me...I am replying to your idea of adding the link to each antique I show on my blog. I had that idea and in my perfect world it works...except I'm lucky I can get a blog post done at all! I have zero time left so for now I will have to hope people can find my stuff on my website on their own. I so wish I had more time/energy to work on my site. "Someday" I keep saying!)

  7. Hi MJ - sorry I haven't visited your blog in a long time...I think I had the wrong blog address (your old one perhaps?) and thought you'd stopped blogging yourself and were just commenting. D'oh. Anyway, I'll add you to my blog roll and swing by regularly!

Enjoy your life change! Change tends to find us when we need it most.
