a change in season

This past weekend I drove the girls to their last cross-country ski lessons for this winter and donned my new skis to venture out on my own.  I have only cross-country skied twice this year (three times in my life) and the first time this year was a miserable experience as I wiped out 4 times within 45 minutes.    That was hard on the ole ego!

I hesitated on venturing out on my own but was positively delighted that I didn't wipe out once on Sunday!  I went down two hills ~ the first one was a little scary as I almost wiped out and almost wiped out a mother skiing and pulling her sleeping son on a sled as well!  Ah-ahahaha!  It was a great day for skiing with the weather being mild (& hovering around 0 degrees C).

As the week has progressed, we've been having a battle of the boots.  We are slowly shifting from winter boots to rubber boots intermingled with regular shoes as the weather shifts.

It is a cold splashing season!  The girls haven't outgrown heading out into the alley and curbs to splash and then they venture indoors cold and wet.  I know too soon that this will pass too!

Happy spring!

  1. Good for you...getting back out there on skis! I also learned how to ski later in life and have decided maybe it is not for me! Although the last couple of times I went skiing, things went much better.

Your girls are getting "SOOOOOO BIG!" :9)

  2. Way to go on the CC skiing. I don't think I could do it. Enjoy the warming weather. We have had quite balmy weather lately. I am enjoying it because I think we might get one more slam of cold air before it gets permanently warm.

  3. WOW....skiing, what fun! Can you believe I've lived here in the the land of the far north this lone (12 yrs now!) and I've not been skiing... I'm not that sporty. Yoga and walking are my things. ;o) But I admire your trying the skiing, MJ! Our snow is gone here at last... and spring arrived today, at least so the calendar says. Look how grown up your girls are! Hope you all have a lovely spring! ((HUGS)) P.S. You were wondering if I dream in English or Norwegian. Mostly English, but some Norwegian has snuck in sometimes. I write my blog in English so everyone can read it easily. But I enjoy reading and writing in Norwegian. :o)
