For a person with chronic back problems, this has been the best winter I've had in years (excepting the 6 weeks with the cast on my left arm over Christmas but that was just a blip!) I am mustering the courage to go skating tomorrow.
Last weekend, the girls and I tried this:
Snowshoeing! I purchased a set of snowshoes for K (6 years), N (4 years) and me now that they are discounted in stores preparing for the upcoming spring season. I figured that if you can't beat winter, you might as well try to enjoy it! The girls really enjoyed dashing about on top of the snow and took great delight that they were able to walk on snow banks that I still crashed into despite my snowshoes!
What do I like best about winter? I love hoar frost. The frost was so thick on the trees this week that I couldn't resist the temptation to take photos. Here are some unaltered photos (and no, I haven't switched them to black and white photos):
Gorgeous. We will never have snow like that until the second coming of the Ice Age.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting today. I have been caffeine free since Christmas. I don't miss it anymore except when we go out and (since we live in the south) all there is to drink is iced tea. I have become accustomed to drinking water. Probably a good thing.
Oh, I love hoar frost too. It is one of the sites I miss the most living here in Southeast Alaska vs Anchorage. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteSnowshoeing--that sounds like fun! Maybe we should try that to chase the winter blues... These frosty photos are very winter-wonderland, MJ! Happy Days ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteI really like your upbeat attitude of "if you can't beat it, join it!" I wish I could take on the same feeling! Can't wait for spring. Neat idea with the snow shoes...
ReplyDeleteLook how beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI kept getting an error when I tried to read your blog -- my invitation has expired, but then I went to your old blog and hit the link to this one -- and it worked!!
